A Rec: A Very Special Minerva/Rolanda Story

Since I completed my fanfic I haven’t been around much, but last week I finally read one HP fic, and now I’ve realised that I absolutely mustn’t fail to rec this excellently-written, beautiful, very special story.

Free Falling (Minerva McGonagall/Rolanda Hooch, R) by anonymous

In this touching, important story of love of the kind I’ve longed to see in fiction and looked forward to seeing since posting my prompt at Minerva Fest, the brilliant writer offers marvellous characterisations of Minerva and Rolanda as full, evolving persons in the complex contexts of their lives.

Thanks for the rec--I haven't been able to keep up with minerva_fest this month, so recs are especially appreciated.

Good to see you again! *waves* M.

I’m glad you appreciate the rec. I do believe you’ll enjoy this story.

I feel a bit ashamed I haven’t even tried to keep up with the fest or to even watch my flist. I’ve only watched the fest so as to see the fic based on my prompt. Seeing you makes me realise I do miss the good old times when I tried to interact with all you lovely, inspiring people. Thank you for commenting!

I think we all have periods of more and less energy for fannish things--I know I do.

Hope all's well! M.

Your kind comment has made me now take a look at your journal, and I’m glad it looks like all’s well in your fandom life at least. I’ve found an interesting, low-rated femmeslash piece – and realised that it would be too late in any case, if I wanted to take part in R/S Small Gifts (which kellychambliss mentioned to me only a couple of days ago, encouraging me to write more about Remus). The exchange is still close to my heart: participating in it in 2007 – 2009 meant a lot to me each time. However, I doubt there’s anything essential I could add to my Remus’s story, contributing to the (R/S) fandom.

Thank you, I now usually feel life’s good enough, although I continue to worry about one of my sons in particular. Instead of writing fiction, I study Polish, and I keep myself happy by writing slowly a detailed account of the beautiful days I spent in Poland in July – which means writing only for myself, against my principles!
