I’ve finally completed a draft for my rs_small_gifts fic. I’ll be grateful to anyone willing to beta this Remus/Sirius piece, which is… well, I suppose I shouldn’t say much here… small. The deadline is on the 30th of November,

I’ve just completed a draft for my mini_fest fic. It’s 1,300 words, and the submissions are due on the 23rd of November. Is there anyone out there willing to beta? This is some kind of Remus/Luna (extrapolation from this drabble: A Later Sketch for a Portrait), but there are no sexual teacher/student acts (here either). I’d be grateful for an honest, general opinion, and for any nitpicks and other suggestions.

NaNoWriMo, Big Bangs, Games and daily prompt communities have always made me wish I were such an achiever that I could belong... Now I’ve found something for me: wrisomifu (Write Something, You Miserable Fuck) is a writing group for underachievers who enjoy the company of same. To join, all you have to do is commit to writing (original fic, fanfic, to do lists, ransom notes, your thesis - anything!) for at least ten minutes each day for the entire month of November. And you are permitted - encouraged even! - to complain bitterly about every single word.

Do they really mean that I should actually write every day, not just escape by checking my flist and email, after staring at the sentence or word I typed a week ago? I can promise to complain! I’ve requested an invite. You can do the same by commenting here or here.

I’m happy to declare that I’ve finally read some more fic on rs_games and liked it. These two pieces are shorter than 1,900 words each and certainly worth reading.

Each of these fics includes Remus/Sirius at least in the background. But one is Alice-cenric and another one at least as much about Grindelwald and Dumbledore as about Remus.

I can hardly believe that something this wonderful is true: ( someone, and a brilliant writer, too, has told the single story inspired by post-OotP canon I’ve longed to read – Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s – and done it by using my OTC's perspective )

(I was without internet connection since Wednesday afternoon, and yesterday I found out that my email contract had been cancelled, too, by mistake, and wouldn’t be fixed back before Monday. This morning I opened a gmail account, but I must have missed some comment notifications and other emails. It’s so good to have my connections back.)

I – who’ve rarely participated in any fests or challenges – have actually signed up, saying that I’ll probably write Remus/Sirius, Remus/Luna, Luna/Aberforth, or femmeslash. There’s no pressure, as it says in the guidelines that you can simply email the mods, if you need to pull out. Submissions are due on the 23th of November.

I actually want to make myself busier in the fandom, and in various ways (perhaps in order to have chances to procrastinate while the final scenes of my huge WiP need to be crafted slowly and carefully). Today I braced myself and signed up also in remixthedrabble – only to learn that I can’t participate in remixes (as a remixer) because I can’t offer to write in three different fandoms. There’s no chance for me, since I know nothing at all about any of those TV shows people write about.

A Sketch for Someone New


“Thank you. Radishes ease delivery.” Luna, with her hands clasped on the mountain of her belly, kept staring dreamily over his shoulder, as he reached to fasten the necklace. “I didn’t think I could have children with you.”

“Neither did I. You were twelve… But you taught me I was able to fall in love with someone totally different from him – that feared fugitive for whom I had wasted my years.” On his knees between her thighs, Remus leant into her embrace. “This child won’t be torn by war or hesitate to love. I’m so happy for you and Aberforth.”

Is there anyone out there willing to beta 670 words of Remus/Sirius? It’s just a piece for dogdaysofsummer, but I’m sadly out of touch when summer goodness and intimacy are concerned.

Some Remus fics I’ve enjoyed and admired recently:

Lilac Seasons (The Land of Dreams Remix) by minnow_53 (Remus/Tonks, Remus/Sirius, PG-13)
Like always there is irresistible charm in Minnow’s writing. Her Remus and Tonks look and sound completely real. And the loveliness of the original poetic piece glows anew as glimpses of tenderness, bravery and humour amidst the harsh realism.

All Will Be In Order by shimotsuki (Gen, PG)
I’m thrilled I’ve finally found this excellent writer, who here takes us to the summer before OotP, offering wonderful characterisations. Still a WiP, but for instance chapter one works separately, too, as a fascinating portrayal of Remus and his interaction with Sirius.
